The Yusipov Palace was owned by one of the wealthiest families in Russia who owned vast estates all over the country. This Palace is probably best remembered as the site where Rasputin was murdered. in 1917. He was lured to the palace by Felix Yusipov under the pretext of some promised decadence and the chance to meet Felix’s wife Irena. He was poisoned, shot several times and finally bludgeoned to death before being dumped under the ice on the frozen Neva River.
