Arrival in St Petersburg

Monday – Left VLS at crack of dawn for Malaga Airport fully expecting the British Airways meltdown to trash my schedule.   I have to say that they were amazing and got me to London on time and the next day they delivered me to St Petersburg without a hitch, which considering all their crews and planes were in the wrong places was no mean feat.     Arrived in St Petersburg to be met by my guide for the next four days – the wonderful Angelina and boy did we cram a lot in !!!   Hence not having time to post any blogs until now.     Tuesday evening I went to the Faberge Museum for full frontal bling:

Followed by a cruise around the rivers and canals.     The weather was appalling most of the time in StP.   We had everything – Drizzle, Rain, Hail and even Snow.     The River Cruise was freezing and we all sat huddled in blankets – making sure to duck and not to be standing up when scraping under all the low bridges.

Wednesday morning we were off to Peterhof and Tsarskoye Selo – Both huge Summer Palaces outside St P and Gilded Baroque Overkill but inside breathtaking, outside wet but Gardens and Water Features that make Versailles look like a puddle !!   Peterhof:

And a soggy drive back to St Petersburg in time for a quick change and off to the Marinsky (Kirov) Theatre for a spot of culture…………………….
